One of the best ways to cool off in the hot Florida sunshine is with a visit to a water park. Luckily Walt Disney World has TWO – and entry to both is included with our Walt Disney World tickets!
Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are both brilliant fun for the whole family, but if you only have time to visit one during your holiday, here’s a quick summary of the rides and attractions you can find at each park…
Typhoon Lagoon
Whether you prefer to lounge on sandy beaches, or float away down a lazy river, Typhoon Lagoon has something for everyone! Some of its main rides and attractions include:
Crush ‘n’ Gusher
One of the park’s most thrilling attractions. This “Water-Coaster” raft ride propels you through hairpin turns and sudden drops.
Humunga Kowabunga
Brace yourself for a near-vertical 5-story drop—in the dark! Great for big kids, teenagers and adults (guests must be 48in or taller to ride).
Shark Reef
Snorkel with leopard and bonnethead sharks, stingrays and schools of blue tangs – just like Dory from Finding Nemo!
Wave Pool
The largest wave pool in North America, with waves of up to 6 feet high!
Best for smaller kids?
Ketchakiddee Creek is designed for children under 48 inches (122cms) tall. It has smaller slides for thrill-seekers in the making, plus shallower areas where little ones can splash around safely.
Blizzard Beach
Themed around a Ski Resort, Blizzard Beach is well known for having some of the best thrill rides around. Attractions you’ll find include:
Summit Plummet
One of the tallest and fastest freefall body slides in the world, with a sheer 120-foot drop!
Slush Gusher
Check out the view from the top, before speeding downhill on this thrilling waterslide.
Teamboat Springs
A whitewater raft ride, which is great to do with friends and family! Up to 6 guests can ride per inner tube, and there are no height restrictions.
Downhill Double Dipper
A 50ft high, side-by-side racing slide. You’ll disappear into a black hole before plummeting downhill.
Best for smaller kids?
Tike’s Peak is aimed at children under 48 inches tall. This polar-themed play land has plenty of kid-sized slides and other watery activities that the little ones will love.
From October til March only one of the Disney Water Parks remain open, while the other closes for refurbishment. If you’re visiting during this time, make sure you check which one going to be open!
Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon: Which is better?
In a recent Facebook poll we found that over twice as many people prefer Typhoon Lagoon, however both were recently voted two of the Best Water Parks in the World in TripAdvisor’s Traveller’s Choice Awards!
