Legoland Re-opens its Famous 1950s Florida-Shaped Pool

Lego Pool at Legoland Florida

LEGOLAND Florida have re-opened parts of Cypress Gardens – Central Florida’s first real tourism destination – including the Florida-shaped pool that was famously featured in the 1953 Esther Williams movie Easy to Love.

The iconic pool was specially built as a set for the movie, and was an attraction at Cypress Gardens for many years. When LEGOLAND opened in 2011, the pool was closed off to the public.

On hand for the re-opening ceremony were Cypress Gardens Southern Belles in their billowing dresses, along with the LEGO belles, who are now iconic in the gardens.

The Florida Pool was filled with nearly 10,000 brightly-coloured floating LEGO bricks and surrounded with fresh Florida citrus, as an homage to the iconic citrus photos made famous by Cypress Gardens’ founder, Dick Pope Sr.

As well as the pool, another iconic area that reopened was the tranquil and beautiful Oriental Gardens, which now look just as pristine as the rest of the 30-acre botanical gardens.
