The ‘NextGen’ Disney Park

The 'NextGen' Disney Park

Anyone who has been to Walt Disney World over the past few decades will have undoubtedly noticed something new every time they visit. With recent additions such as the interactive game, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and the new Fantasyland construction nearing completion, Disney always make sure they have something new and exciting to offer guests each time they walk through the gates.

Personalising Your Experience

Now, imagine if you could personalise your trip even more by booking times for rides and meeting Disney characters months in advance before you even arrive. This is the next big plan Walt Disney World has in store for their fans.

Guests will be able to reserve times for their favourite attractions and character interactions, secure seats at our shows and spectaculars, make dining reservations and pre-book many other favourite guest experiences all before even leaving their house, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs said in February last year.

Although Disney isn’t giving too much away and a lot still has to be confirmed, bloggers and journalists are falling over themselves to get the latest news on this teaser announcement.

At the moment, Disney parks have a queue skipping option called FastPass, but this could be changed to the xPASS, a system that allows guests to pre-book times for rides, characters meetings and restaurants months in advance. This is ultimately a goal to eliminate wait time and streamline the parks experience.

Another new feature in the pipeline is the introduction of personalised wristbands that contain a microchip which acts as a ticket and payment device. As guests walk through the park, sensors would communicate with the wristband triggering effects and interactive features so, for example, an attraction could greet you and your family by name.

Were looking forward to seeing the developments and announcements of this new feature expected to be unveiled in 2013.
